FAQ

WHAT STYLE OF YOGA IS YOUR TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAM?

Wicked Om Yoga school is a Vinyasa-based yoga school. We teach yoga classes designed to link breath to movement and to hone in on the balance between mindful movement and more challenging postures. During the 10 weeks of training, you will learn the art of sequencing yoga classes by learning the blueprint of a structured vinyasa flow class.  You will learn to teach classes for all-levels and for beginners.

WHAT IF I DON’T WANT TO BE A TEACHER?

That’s totally okay! This training is a great way to dive deeper into all aspects of yoga. It is open to everyone – whether you want to become a teacher or just deepen your understanding of yoga, both the physical and mental aspects. Your experience in Teacher Training will be life-altering and directly impact your life in the best way possible.

WHERE CAN I FIND YOUR FULL SCHEDULE?

Please reach out to Ciara Desmond, Lead Trainer, at info@wickedomyoga.com for the full schedule.

DO I HAVE TO BE GOOD AT YOGA OR HAVE PRACTICED FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS BEFORE DOING THE TRAINING?

We recommend you have at least 6 months of consistent yoga practice under your belt for the training.

This is the most common question we get from all potential trainees. Many potential trainees are concerned that their practice is not good enough and/or not having an advanced practice will affect their experience. We understand and want you to know that most of the other trainees feel the same. Once the training starts and you meet all the other trainees, we guarantee these worries will fade away and you will be able to fully enjoy your experience.

OUTSIDE OF THE REQUIRED IN-PERSON HOURS, HOW MANY HOURS PER WEEK SHOULD I EXPECT TO SPEND ON YTT STUFF?

Outside of the lectures and sessions where we meet in person, you will also need to take 60 vinyasa yoga classes over the course of the training, which includes 5 coach observations and 3 outside classes. The required 3 outside classes are for you to experience a different style of yoga. There is a 2 week grace period to complete your class requirements – work with Ciara if you need more time!

For each training session and class you take/observe, you will journal about the experience and offer feedback about the class. On top of your required classes, there are also readings, weekly assignments and optional practice teaching sessions with your fellow trainees. On average, there will be 2-4 hours a week of outside classroom work.

HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL BE IN MY TEACHER TRAINING? CAN I SIGN UP WITH A FRIEND/FAMILY MEMBER?

We do our best to keep the trainings personalized and relatively small. You can expect anywhere from 5-10 trainees in each session.

CAN I STILL DO THE TRAINING IF I NEED TO MISS ANY OF THE SESSIONS?

Yes! You are allowed to miss 3 sessions over the 10 weeks. If you already know the dates you will need to miss in advance, let Ciara know before the training so she can schedule your make-up work and a time to meet with you to make up the hours.

WHAT IS YOUR MAKE-UP POLICY?

We have two options for make-up hours:

  • Option 1: Group make-up sessions. Schedule time with Ciara/Coaches to meet as a group.

  • Option 2: Schedule a private session with one of the teachers.

    • Please note: Missing more than three sessions of training, will require the individual to pay for an individual session(s) with one of our lead facilitators, to be eligible for certification.  The cost per missed session is $125.

ONCE I COMPLETE MY TRAINING, WHAT'S NEXT? WILL I BE QUALIFIED TO TEACH YOGA CLASSES?

Your formal graduation is on the last day of Teacher Training. All of your classes, journals and assignments need to be submitted by that time before you are able to receive your certificate. You will have a 2 week grace period to finish up any of your hours or work needed. If you need more time, please let your lead trainer know.

We use our connections and networks to help launch your new path of teaching. There are many yoga studios and gyms on the south shore looking for quality instructors and we feel confident that after you complete our training, you will have everything you need to launch a successful yoga teaching career.
